Hokkaido business groups seek faster planning for the 2027 IR window
Eight organisations plan to urge the prefecture to accelerate its early-stage integrated-resort process.

Eight Hokkaido business organisations planned to ask governor Naomichi Suzuki to accelerate the prefecture’s integrated-resort work ahead of Japan’s second-round application window from 6 May to 5 November 2027.
Hokkaido did not enter the first national application round, although three overseas casino operators and 12 domestic companies recently responded to a market-interest questionnaire. No Hokkaido integrated resort has been approved.
Japan’s only approved casino resort remains the JPY1.51 trillion MGM Osaka project, expected to open at the end of 2030.
