Set limits before you play
A practical framework for treating gambling as a capped entertainment expense rather than a way to make money.

A responsible entertainment plan starts before money is committed. Set a maximum amount that can be lost without affecting rent, bills, debt, savings, or other obligations. Set a separate time limit and use alarms or platform controls where available.
Do not borrow to gamble, do not use credit, and do not increase the limit to recover earlier losses. Taking regular breaks makes it easier to notice frustration, secrecy, or a shift from recreation to compulsion.
If gambling causes distress, financial pressure, conflict, or loss of control, stop and seek locally appropriate support. Blocking tools, bank gambling blocks, venue or platform self-exclusion, and professional counselling can create valuable distance.
